The Syrian Feminist Lobby condemns discrimination between women and men in their right to enter academic and professional fields.
Justice mechanisms require the presence of women academics in the police, judiciary and security services, particularly given the human rights violations taking place. This makes it all the more important to have qualified women who can work with survivors and address cases involving violence generally, and violence against women in particular.
This discrimination is itself a violation of women’s rights. It also has economic consequences: it deprives women of employment opportunities and contributes to the existing shortage of women with university qualifications in the judicial police.
We reject discrimination and the closing of doors to women’s full participation in education and work. We condemn this violation of women’s rights.
