The Syrian Feminist Lobby has released a new report titled “Climate Justice in the Contexts of Reconstruction and Transitional Justice in Syria.” The report sheds light on the intersection of climate change, war, governance, and gender justice through a feminist perspective grounded in the testimonies and lived experiences of Syrian women from different regions.
The report was prepared by journalist, feminist researcher, and member of the Syrian Feminist Lobby, Maysa Saleh, who examined the impact of climate and environmental crises within the context of the Syrian conflict and how these challenges have affected women’s daily lives and their access to essential resources and services.
Drawing on firsthand testimonies, the report documents the consequences of drought, water and energy crises, and the degradation of agricultural land. It also explores ways to integrate climate justice and environmental harms into transitional justice and reconstruction processes, ensuring accountability, equity, and the non-recurrence of violations.
The Syrian Feminist Lobby invites researchers, practitioners, and all those interested in these issues to read the report and draw on its findings and recommendations in developing more just and sustainable approaches to Syria’s future.
