The Syrian Feminist Lobby is deeply concerned about the ongoing siege imposed on Suwayda province and its devastating effects on the population, including women and children.
Civilians are suffering from severe shortages of drinking water, food, infant formula, medicine, electricity, and fuel—essential not only for transportation but also for operating bakeries and generators.
9,500 cancer patients are currently denied treatment as a result of the siege.
Today, Suwayda is a disaster-stricken province. The siege imposed on it constitutes a war crime.
The Syrian Feminist Lobby urgently calls for lifting the siege on Suwayda, ensuring the immediate delivery of all necessary supplies, and repairing the systematically damaged wells and water pipelines.
We demand that authorities lift the blockade, and we call on the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to take immediate action to deliver humanitarian aid that meets the needs of the population.
The aid delivered so far is insufficient to meet Suwayda’s urgent needs.
We salute the resilient women of Suwayda for their community work and volunteer efforts to support local society.
Siege is a brutal tool of war that can only be condemned as an unjustifiable war crime.
