The Syrian Feminist Lobby is closely observing the recent developments on the ground in northern Syria.
These developments reaffirm that Syria cannot achieve stability without implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and initiating a political transition to ensure sustainable peace.
In this context, the Syrian regime, represented by its leader, bears the primary responsibility for obstructing political solutions and clinging to violent approaches. This persists, showing disregard for the unity of Syria, the dignity, freedom, and lives of its diverse and authentic population. Security and peace in Syria are unattainable without fully implementing Resolution 2254.
As Syrian women, we demand that all de facto powers on the ground respect human rights and international humanitarian law, safeguard freedoms, and ensure that state institutions, which belong to the people, remain intact. The safety and well-being of civilians must be prioritized.
We call upon the international community to take urgent action to achieve a political solution based on international legitimacy resolutions. The Syrian people must not be left abandoned without meaningful progress toward sustainable peace, dignity, justice, and equality for all Syrians.
All Syrians have the right to return safely and peacefully to their areas and homes from which they were displaced or forcibly left. Additionally, all detainees in prisons and detention centers must be released.
We express our deep concern over any acts of violence and attacks on civilians by any party. We condemn the bombing of Aleppo University Hospital and civilian neighborhoods in Idlib, perpetrated by the regime and its allies, which resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children.
All human rights violations are condemnable, regardless of the perpetrator.
As Syrians, we have the right to achieve our aspirations for a free, dignified, and democratic homeland where laws and their enforcers uphold human rights, and freedoms, rights, and dignity are preserved for all Syrians, irrespective of their affiliations, without any discrimination.
